New Leave of Absence Notice of Cost

Edmonton - The new Leave of Absence Notice of Cost provides information to members of Alberta's public sector pension plans that is easy to read and act upon. The product is designed with the member's needs in mind and in a language they understand.
"It's our job at Alberta Pensions Services Corporation to make the pension experience easier by providing clear information and support," says Tracy Balash, Director of Communications. "Members have more information on why buying back pensionable service is important, and their next steps."
New Online Service for Members
If the cost of the leave of absence is greater than $500, the member is now able to register the decision to purchase online using our secure member website, mypensionplan.ca. Once the member's decision is made, APS will send the employer notification through Employer Online Services. This process is compliant with the Electronic Transactions Act.
The new product comes with a new streamlined process for employers. With the new process, employers are relieved of the burden of distributing thousands of Leave of Absence Notices of Cost to their members. Instead, APS will mail them directly to members' home addresses.
APS provides pension information and support to members on behalf of the public sector pension plans. The new Leave of Absence Notice of Cost is the latest in a series of enhancements to products and services to members in 2011.
